Overview

LifeMax ("LifeMax", "we", "our") is a gamified life-improvement app that helps you track habits, earn XP, level up, and compete with friends across health, mind, growth, money, and social domains. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about how your data is handled.

This Privacy Policy explains what data is collected, how it is used, who it is shared with, and your choices regarding that data.


Data We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account via Apple Sign-In or Google Sign-In, we collect:

  • Email address (provided by your sign-in provider)
  • Display name / username (chosen by you)
  • Authentication identifiers (to securely link your account)

Profile & Onboarding Data

During onboarding and app use, you may provide:

  • Gender, age range, height, and weight (used for personalization)
  • Onboarding survey responses (goals, preferences)
  • Timezone (for scheduling and streak calculations)

Health & Activity Data (Apple Health)

With your explicit permission, LifeMax reads the following data from Apple Health:

  • Step count
  • Active energy burned (calories)
  • Walking and running distance
  • Workout sessions
  • Sleep analysis

This data is read locally on your device and used to award XP and display health stats within the app. Raw Apple Health data is not transmitted to our servers. Only aggregated progress information (such as XP earned) is synced to your account.

You may also manually log health metrics (steps, workout minutes, calories, sleep hours) which are stored in your account.

User-Generated Content

LifeMax allows you to create and log various types of content:

  • Journal entries and mood ratings
  • Activity logs across all domains (meditation, reading, social interactions, etc.)
  • Financial data you choose to input (net worth, income, savings, expenses)
  • Messages sent through the in-app creator chat feature

Financial data is entered voluntarily and stored securely in your account. We do not connect to any bank accounts or financial institutions.

Photos & AI-Generated Images

If you choose to create a character avatar, you may provide a selfie photo. This photo is:

  • Sent to our secure backend API for AI-powered stylization
  • Processed by OpenAI's image generation service to create a stylized character
  • Not retained by our backend after processing is complete

The resulting stylized character image and domain background images are stored in your account so they can be displayed across your devices.

Usage Analytics

To improve the app experience, LifeMax collects anonymous usage data including:

  • App launches, screen views, and feature interactions
  • Onboarding progress and completion
  • Paywall interactions and subscription events
  • Error events for debugging and reliability

Analytics collection can be disabled remotely and does not include personally identifiable information beyond your anonymous user identifier.

Device Information

To deliver push notifications and ensure compatibility, we collect:

  • Device push notification token (for delivering notifications via Apple Push Notification service)
  • Device model and iOS version (for compatibility and debugging)

Data We Do Not Collect

LifeMax does not collect, store, or require:

  • Precise geographic location or GPS data
  • Contact lists or address books
  • Advertising identifiers (IDFA)
  • Browsing history
  • Bank account or payment card information (payments are handled entirely by Apple)

How We Use Data

The data we collect is used to:

  • Provide and personalize the app experience (XP, levels, quests, streaks)
  • Generate AI character avatars and domain background images
  • Enable social features (friends, leaderboards, squads, events)
  • Deliver push notifications (streak reminders, friend requests, trial reminders)
  • Process and manage subscriptions
  • Improve app usability, reliability, and performance
  • Provide customer support through the in-app creator chat

We do not use your data for advertising, marketing to third parties, or user profiling for ad targeting.


Third-Party Services

LifeMax uses the following third-party services to operate:

  • Supabase — Secure cloud database and authentication. Stores your account data, progress, and content.
  • RevenueCat — Subscription management. Receives your anonymous user ID and purchase data to manage premium access.
  • Mixpanel — Anonymous product analytics. Receives usage events and non-identifying user properties. Can be disabled remotely.
  • OpenAI — AI image generation. Receives photos you submit for character stylization. Images are processed and not retained by OpenAI beyond what is necessary for generation.
  • Apple Push Notification service (APNs) — Delivers push notifications to your device.
  • Apple Sign-In / Google Sign-In — Authentication providers. We receive only the information you authorize (email, name).

We do not share your data with advertisers, ad networks, or data brokers.


Social Features & Shared Data

When you use social features, certain information is visible to other users:

  • Your username, level, and character avatar are visible to friends and on leaderboards
  • Squad members can see each other's usernames, levels, and XP
  • Event leaderboards display participant usernames, levels, and rankings

Your health data, journal entries, financial data, mood ratings, and other personal logs are never shared with other users.


Tracking

LifeMax does not track users across apps or websites. We do not use advertising identifiers or combine app data with third-party data for advertising or marketing purposes.


Data Security

Your data is protected using industry-standard security measures including encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS), row-level security policies on our database, and authenticated API endpoints. Passwords are never stored in plain text. Photo uploads for AI generation are transmitted securely and are not retained after processing.


Data Retention

Your account data and content are retained for as long as your account is active. Anonymous analytics data is retained only as long as necessary for product improvement.

If you delete your account, your personal data, content, and generated images are permanently removed from our systems.


Your Choices

  • You control all Apple Health permissions and can revoke them at any time in iOS Settings
  • You can enable or disable push notifications in iOS Settings
  • You can choose not to provide a selfie for character generation
  • Financial data entry is entirely optional
  • You can delete your account and all associated data from within the app

Children's Privacy

LifeMax is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected data from a child under 13, we will promptly delete it.


Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the app or legal requirements. Updates will be posted on this page with a revised "Last updated" date.
